The Framer Japan Community is a community for Japanese designers and creators using Framer. Launched in November 2024, it operates primarily on Slack. I am involved in all aspects of the community, including planning, operation, design of the official site, and implementation using Framer since the initial phase of the community.

From launch to continuous community activities

After building service pages for startups using Framer, I wanted better tools to be more widely adopted.
With that motivation, I called for participants on X and launched the Framer Japan Community in November 2024.
The community is co-managed with Yugo (https://x.com/suko_hakumai).

In the community, we are continuously engaging in the following initiatives.

  • Hosting regular study sessions several times a month

  • Operating a question channel where both beginners and experienced users can easily ask for help

  • Creating Framer templates

  • Organizing offline meetups

As a result, we have achieved the following.

  • Growth to a membership scale of 650 people in about a year

  • Contributing to the growth of Framer users in Japan

  • Serving as a hub for information sharing and touchpoints related to Framer in Japan

Official website design: balancing sophistication and approachability

I took the lead in designing the official website, incorporating feedback from community members throughout the process.

The concept was to balance two qualities:
a refined, forward-looking, and tech-oriented atmosphere suitable for a community centered on advanced creation tools, and a warm, open, and lively environment where people naturally gather, converse, and learn together without feeling intimidated.

  • Using clean, refined, linear typefaces

  • A simple layout with generous use of white space

  • Expressing playfulness through stickers in various colors and shapes

  • Incorporating many human elements, such as user icons, cursors, and hand-shaped objects

Additionally, we adopted cherry blossoms as a motif to reflect both a sense of talents blossoming and spreading, and a symbolic expression of Japanese identity.

The site has also been featured on design curation platforms such as SANKOU! and muuuuu.org as well as in published web design reference books.

Designing interactions that showcase Framer’s strengths

To highlight the strengths of Framer itself, we designed a site experience rich in interaction, leveraging the platform’s capabilities.

  • An interactive first view that follows cursor movement

  • Integration of 3D animations using Spline

  • Rotating hexagonal objects using 3D transforms

  • Light, responsive motion design triggered by scrolling and hovering
